You can complete the account opening process in three simple steps: 

• Fill in the form with some basic information about yourself
• Sign the contract electronically
• Confirm your identity by uploading a copy of your passport or ID, or via video call

Please note that the initial deposit must originate from an account in your name at a fully regulated bank.

Your first deposit plays an important role in our identity verification process when opening your account. For this reason, your initial deposit must meet the following requirements:

• The transfer must come from a licensed bank.
• The sending account must be in your name.
• The sending account must be located in of the countries listed here:

Once we've processed and approved your initial deposit, these specific limitations will no longer apply to future deposits.

Yes, you can open a joint account with Swissquote. Here are the steps:

1. First, you must already have a Swissquote account for one of the individuals. If you don’t have a Swissquote account yet, you can open one here: Open your account.
2. To convert your new or already existing Swissquote account into a joint account and to add a new account holder, download the "Joint Account Agreement" form here: Joint Account Agreement.
3. Send the signed Joint Account Agreement along with a certified copy of the passport of the additional account holder(s) by postal mail to:

Please note that no separate login data will be issued for other account holders.

Trading account holding is free of charge (for cash).

If you hold securities (stocks, funds, bonds, etc.) or cryptocurrencies in the account, we charge custody fees depending on securities value at a minimum of CHF 20 to a maximum of CHF 50 per quarter. The custody fees do not include the cash balances.
For assets above CHF 1'000'000, a fee of 0.0075% per quarter will be added to cover external safekeeping fees.

Custody fees are charged on the total value of the securities and/or cryptocurrencies, regardless of how many different securities are held in the account at any one time. They are charged at the end of each quarter (March, June, September, December) if at any point in time a security and/or cryptocurrency was present in the account during that period.

To place orders with Swissquote, you can use the following methods:

1. Desktop/PC: On your Swissquote Trading Platform or the "Markets" webpage, you'll find a search field at the top right. You can search for securities by ISIN, name, or symbol. It's recommended to search by ISIN for the best results. Once you've found the desired security, click the orange "Trade" button on the left side of the security to prepare your order.
2. Swissquote app: In the Swissquote app, click "Trade" in the bottom bar, then click the magnifying glass at the top right to start your search. Once you've found the desired security, click the orange "Trade" button (abbreviated as "T") on the left side of the security to prepare your order.
