Payments to an account are booked automatically during office hours (Monday ‑ Friday, 08:00 ‑ 17:30 CET).

Usually, payments to an account are rejected when 'Swissquote' is indicated as final beneficiary. Please ensure you list the account holder's name as final beneficiary on all payments to an account.

Payments out of an account are executed during the day that is specified as 'execution date', provided there is sufficient money in the account. This can happen any time of the day, not necessarily in the morning.

If an outgoing payment was rejected, please go to 'Payment/Transfers' > 'Manage my payments', then click on the relevant payment; it should be marked with a red '!' next to 'Details'. If the payment was subject to a currency exchange, there are always two value dates (working days, T+2) calculated and therefore the payment will be delayed for those two working days.

You can transfer money to your Swissquote account via Interbank (online banking, instruction to the bank) or ISR (inpayment slip with reference number) at the Post Office (Switzerland only) or via online banking. More details can be found here.

If the transfer has already been debited from the account at the bank/post office executing the order, please call our Customer Care Center during opening hours so that we can check the transfer you have made.

Yes, like any bank or securities dealer in Switzerland, Swissquote Bank Ltd is required to sign the Agreement by Swiss Banks and Securities Dealers on Deposit Insurance and as such is a member of esisuisse. Client deposits held with Swiss branches of the bank are protected for up to CHF 100,000 per client, per bank. Deposits also include medium-term notes held in the name of the depositor at the issuing bank. All relevant information on the deposit insurance can be found at www.esisuisse.ch.

It should be noted that deposited securities do not fall within the scope of bankruptcy and the customer has the right to recover them whenever he or she wishes.

Depositor protection applies irrespective of whether the depositor is resident in Switzerland or abroad.

Transfers to the account 

In order to transfer securities to a Swissquote account, you need to send an instruction letter (Transfer order form) to your bank, requesting a transfer to your IBAN account. 
Securities transfers to the Swissquote account are free of charge. 
Your bank can contact our settlement department by e‑mail at settlement@swissquote.ch to coordinate the transfer. Please note that we do not provide custodians information to clients.

• Securities transfers to another financial institution are charged at EUR/USD/CHF 50 per line. For example, 10 UBS and 30 MSFT are charged CHF 50 and USD 50.
• Securities transfers to another Swissquote account are free. Written instruction as indicated above is still required.

Updating the Unit Cost

In order for us to update the unit cost, please send us a copy of a bank statement indicating the initial purchase price (or purchase confirmation).

Please upload the documents via the contact form or in 'My Account' (top‑right menu) > 'Messages' > “Create”.

The best thing to do is to call our Customer Care Center during opening hours, so that we can check the security transfer you have made.

The time frame required to successfully complete a securities transfer depends on many different factors and cannot be determined in advance. On average, a smooth transfer of securities requires at least one to four weeks, but this period is not guaranteed.

These are some examples of the most important factors influencing the delay of a securities transfer:

• Involved custodians and banks
• Tradability of the financial product
• Legal regulations and foreign restrictions
